The tape guitar is a two string electric bass, built from a four track tape recorder.
The pitch of the tape playback is controled by the bass strings, while at the same time the strings function like they do on a common e-bass. It is a weird hybrid that allows sound manipulation of recorded tapes through the inbuilt mixer and the increased pitch range with the strings in half tone steps.
